Announcing the Keynote Address to be given by Tuiloma Neroni Slade.

Tuiloma Neroni Slade has had an extensive international career and is currently the Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, based in Suva, Fiji.
Before taking up his tenure at the Forum Secretariat, Mr Slade was a Judge of the International Criminal Court at The Hague, The Netherlands, until 2006.
Before his election to the International Criminal Court, Mr Slade was for many years Samoa’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, and concurrently Ambassador to the United States of America and High Commissioner to Canada.
Prior to that he served as a senior counsel with the Legal Division of the Commonwealth Secretariat in London.
From 1976-1982, Mr Slade was the Attorney-General of Samoa, the first Samoan of his generation to occupy that position.
He obtained his law degree from Victoria University in Wellington.
In acknowledgement of his career contributions Mr Slade was conferred the Order of Samoa – Poloaiga Sili a Samoa in 2005. He is the sole living holder of this high honour.
He has also been recognised internationally with awards for environmental diplomacy, for his leadership on issues concerning global oceans and his services to small island developing States of the world in the international negotiations on global climate change.
